About Lueders Limestone

Lueders Limestone is located on 600 acres in West Texas about thirty miles north of Abilene. The company began 12 years ago with two employees and a vision, and now has over thirty employees, four divisions, and customers’ throughout the United States. In the fall of 2009, the Moriah Group acquired the quarry and brought many changes to the quarry for the purpose of both increasing production and providing better service to our customers. Lueders Limestone has also partnered with Mark Johnson and Architectural Stone Company to assist with marketing and sales for the quarry. Mark brings many years of experience in the stone business and we gladly welcome him on our team. Under the new ownership and management teams, Lueders Limestone will build its reputation on excellent customer service while producing high quality stone products.

The process of providing you with excellent building stone began many years ago where the sea covered much of Texas. Fossilized sea creatures and ancient sedimentation now form what we call the Lueders Basin, one of the largest limestone deposits in the world. Lueders’ limestone forms in beds 8 to 36 inches thick with shale and clay between each layer of stone. Some layers are very compact, fine grained and consistent throughout the block. Others have various types of fossils in them due to their depositional history. Each layer is unique in color and character, allowing for a wide variety of building stone choices.

Our large fabrication facility is located less than a half of a mile from our quarry. Here we turn raw quarry blocks into building stone, pool coping, patio stone, fountains, and benches. Using state of the art equipment we fabricate over 100 tons of material daily. We combine high production mentality with artistic attention to detail to ensure that each and every product is the highest quality available anywhere.

What makes Lueders Limestone different?

Lueders Limestone is quarried from the Lueders Basin in Texas. It is a preferred building material amongst architects, engineers, contractors, and masons because it is harder and denser than most other limestone types.. Since Lueders Limestone is denser and absorbs less water than other limestone, it withstands extreme weather and maintains its natural appearance better than other natural stones. Lueders Limestone also comes in a large variety of colors, which makes it unique compared to other limestone deposits.

Why use natural stone?

For thousands of years people have been building their dwellings of stone and for thousands of years these structures have stood as a testimony to the unsurpassed quality of natural stone. From the pyramids of ancient Egypt to the coliseums of Rome, the natural stone has been the choice building product for every thriving civilization. Since natural stone is formed by nature over thousands of years, it cannot be duplicated or surpassed by synthetic stone products. Each crevice of a stone is unique which eliminates the possibility of repetitive patterns. Natural stone has also proven to be the most cost effective building product because of its long-lasting durability and low maintenance.
